Forum Rules
PrepFindr is a community for people who take preparedness seriously without taking themselves too seriously. Keep it useful, keep it civil, and this stays a place worth coming back to.
1. Be Respectful
Disagree with ideas, not people. Personal attacks, name-calling, and pile-ons get posts pulled and accounts warned. You can be direct and still be respectful — that's the standard.
2. Zero Tolerance
The following will get content removed and, on repeat, get accounts banned:
- Racism, ethnic slurs, or dehumanizing language toward any group
- Hate speech based on religion, gender, sexuality, nationality, or disability
- Threats of violence toward a specific person or group
- Doxxing or sharing anyone's private info without consent
- Sexual content involving minors — reported immediately
- Solicitation of clearly illegal activity
- Targeted harassment or coordinated pile-ons
3. Stay On Topic
Post in the category that fits. If you're not sure, general is fine. Off-topic threads may be moved or locked so people can find what they came for.
4. No Spam, No Scams
Don't drop affiliate links, referral codes, or promo content unless the thread is clearly about that and you're transparent. Retail partners have their own path — apply here. Impersonating a brand or a member is grounds for immediate ban.
5. Politics & Religion
Prepping crosses political lines. Discuss policy, current events, or faith where relevant to preparedness. Attacking people over their politics or faith is not.
6. Firearms, Ammo, Self-Defense
Legal discussion is welcome. Do not post anything that could reasonably be read as encouragement to break federal, state, or local law — no straw-purchase talk, no "how to make it full-auto," no manufacturing explosives.
7. Medical, Legal, Financial
Share your experience freely. Do not present it as professional advice. If a situation is serious, tell people to talk to a professional.
8. Copyright & Sourcing
Quote briefly and link to the source. Don't paste entire articles. Don't post copyrighted PDFs, videos, or images you don't own or have permission to share.
9. Signatures, Names, Avatars
Keep display names, avatars, and any signatures clean and non-inflammatory. Slurs, sexual imagery, or brand impersonation in profiles will be reset.
10. Reporting
Every post has a Report button. Use it instead of replying to bait. Moderators review reports as fast as we can. Retaliation against people who report is itself a violation.
11. Moderation & AI Assist
PrepFindr uses a lightweight AI filter to flag posts that likely violate the zero-tolerance rules above (racism, hate speech, threats, etc.). A flagged post is not auto-deleted — it's queued for a human moderator to review. Moderator decisions are final; if you think a call was wrong, DM a mod, don't restart the fight in a new thread.
12. Enforcement
First offense is usually a warning or a removed post. Repeat or severe violations lead to temporary suspensions and, eventually, permanent bans. We keep an internal log so patterns matter.
These rules are borrowed in spirit from long-running communities that got this right — most notably AR15.com — and adapted for PrepFindr. They will evolve as the community grows. Post here, and you agree to them.
